We have no members. Anyone related to the Man family by blood or by marriage can simply pull up a chair: no registration, no fees, no vetting. All you need to know is where and when – and that’s exactly what this page is for.

Two groups, two paces

You can be in more than one group. The invite links aren’t on the site: you ask for access and someone from the board adds you.

Let us know you’d like to be in

Tell us briefly who you are and which branch of the family you belong to. The group holds family members’ phone numbers and photos, so every request gets a quick look first. You’re usually added within a few days.

Coming to a celebration? Then it’s quicker: there’s a QR code at the reception desk and you’re added on the spot, no form needed.

Your number is only used to add you. Can’t think of anyone to name? Fill in what you do know – then someone will get in touch.

Mind your number. In a WhatsApp group your phone number is visible to everyone else in the group. Rather not? Take the newsletter – that goes by email, and addresses stay hidden from one another.

02 · THE NEWSLETTER

Keep up to date
with our newsletter

Announcements of celebrations with the date and how to sign up, and reports with photos. In Dutch; unsubscribe whenever you like.

You’ll get a welcome email as soon as you’re on the list. We only use your address for this newsletter and never pass it on. What we keep, and for how long, is in our privacy statement. There’s an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.

03 · LENDING A HAND

An afternoon of your time is plenty

The association runs on volunteers – nineteen at the last Mid-Autumn Festival. You don’t have to commit for a year.

More is needed than hands on the day itself: giving a workshop, interpreting, a prize for the raffle, printing, or a venue through your own business. It’s all on one page.

ON THE DAY

Reception and name badges

Two hours at the door: welcoming people, handing out badges, pointing out the seating plan. The easiest way in if you don’t know anyone yet.

THROUGH THE YEAR

Photos and reports

Taking photos during a celebration, or writing the report for the newsletter afterwards. Handy if you’d rather do something at home than stand in a hall.

LANGUAGE

Translating and interpreting

Letters and announcements into Cantonese or English, or sitting next to an older relative at a get-together who doesn’t follow the Dutch.

THE LONG HAUL

Family tree and archive

Filling in names and generation lines, scanning old photos, recording interviews with the oldest relatives before those stories are gone.

Something else in mind?

Becoming a regional coordinator, cooking one time, or putting forward your own idea – let us know and the board will be in touch within a week.

04 · JUST COME

The quickest way to get involved is to turn up

You can sign up for a celebration without being in a group or on the newsletter. See what’s coming up.
