New Field – made from the marsh

The Man clan was the last of the five great clans to move to Hong Kong. The best land had already been taken, so our ancestors drained the marsh and grew rice there – hence the name San Tin, New Field.

  1. 1236Man Tin Cheung 文天祥 bornScholar, general and folk hero. Our clan ancestor is his cousin.
  2. 15TH C.The clan settles in San TinThe last of Hong Kong’s five great clans.

Connect is the family’s branch for those of us who grew up here. Workshops, days out, karaoke, and cousins who know exactly what it’s like. Together we get to know our culture and family history – so that what our parents and grandparents brought with them isn’t lost.
