Help at an event
Helping set up, hanging decorations, welcoming guests at the door, and loading everything back up after the last guest. The easiest way in if you don’t know anyone yet.

bring in counts
出一分力The association has no staff and no subsidy. Every event is made of hours, things and services that relatives bring in themselves. Below is what’s needed: from helping for an afternoon to a prize for the raffle.
01 · TIME
An afternoon is plenty
You don’t commit to anything for a year. Say yes once, see how it goes, and decide again after that.
Look after the clubhouse
Furnishing, cleaning, small repairs or setting up for a get-together. A clubhouse that wants to be ready all the time needs looking after too.
Photos and reports
Taking photos at events, or writing the report for the newsletter afterwards. Show how active we are and get other relatives keen too.
Family tree and archive
Filling in names and generation lines, scanning old photos, interviewing the oldest relatives before those stories are gone.
02 · SKILLS & KNOW-HOW
What we can’t do without you
Can you do something others would come and watch? Then there’s an afternoon to be found for it.
Give a workshop
Calligraphy, mahjong for beginners or a cookery class. Whether it’s about Chinese culture or not: any hobby or expertise you’d like to share is welcome. Use our clubhouse in Amsterdam free of charge to bring the family together.
Translating and interpreting
Letters and announcements into Cantonese or English, checking translations, or sitting next to an older relative at a get-together who doesn’t follow the Dutch. Help by being the bridge in language between generations.
Tech, numbers, paperwork
Sorting sound and picture in the hall, helping the treasurer with the annual accounts, or finding out how an event permit, an insurance policy or the ANBI paperwork works.
03 · THINGS
From raffle prizes to a projector
Raffle prizes, food and drink, kit on loan, things for the clubhouse: nearly all of it comes from relatives themselves.
A prize for the raffle
A bottle, a gift voucher, a box of pastries, something from your own shop or studio. The raffle doesn’t fill itself: big or small, you can help by donating a prize.
Food and drink
Mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival, tea, fruit, a dish of something home-made. Let us know beforehand what you’re bringing, so it isn’t on the table three times.
On loan for a day
Sound system, projector, tables, crockery, a van to fetch things. Borrowing saves the association its biggest cost after the venue, every year.
For keeps, to the clubhouse
Furniture, a kettle, a whiteboard. Things you no longer use get a second life at the clubhouse and help us welcome the family.
04 · SERVICES
Business owners in the family
A restaurant, a print shop, a travel agency, a venue, a building firm: in Europe the Man family has above all built its own businesses. Anyone who supplies something, or does it cheaper, keeps an event – and a building – standing.
It works both ways: whoever pitches in is named, trade and all, in the report and the newsletter, and gets a mention at the event itself.

05 · MONEY
When giving is easier than coming
Not everyone lives nearby or has a free Saturday. A gift is the shortest route then.
If you’ve no time, no things and no service to offer, money is just as good a way to join in. There’s no minimum: with € 25 you support the clubhouse, with € 50 you contribute a raffle prize, and with € 100 or more we keep the cost of taking part low.
At every annual meeting the board explains where the money went. Thinking of a larger amount, or a gift with a purpose – an event, the clubhouse, the graduation award – then get in touch first. Get in touch
