Five moments that come round every year. The festivals follow the lunar calendar, so they shift from year to year.
Spring Festival dinner
Ching Ming
清明節
For honouring the recent ancestors: grandparents, great-grandparents and the generations before them. You clean their grave and bring food and incense. Anyone who can’t get to the grave lights incense at home by a photo.
Family day out
for young and old
A day out with the whole family – a theme park, the beach or a boat trip. The destination is picked afresh every year.
Mid-Autumn Festival
中秋節
The big family dinner at Sea Palace. Usually 200 to 300 people, from babies to relatives in their nineties.
Chung Yeung
重陽節
For honouring the distant ancestors of the whole clan. Descendants from San Tin, Chau Tau and Europe gather at the grave of the founder, Man Sai Gor 文世歌, near Tuen Mun. You can join relatives who are going.
