What we stand for
Eleven aims, laid down before the notary. They come down to one thing: that nobody in the Man family is on their own – not here, and not in the village we come from.

What a family association does
Man Clansmen Association Europe exists to find relatives, bring them together and help where needed. That runs from a mooncake dinner in September to a graduation award, from an afternoon of cards at the clubhouse to going with someone to the council office.
The full text below is the statement of aims from our statutes, translated from the Dutch deed – which remains the authoritative text. We’ve grouped them into four themes, so you can see which part of the work belongs where.
Our aims
11 AIMS · 4 THEMESFinding one another
Knowing who’s out there, and making sure people know each other.
- 01Strengthening the ties between family members, particularly those of the younger generation.
- 02Tracing family members in order to bring them into contact with one another and make them known to each other, among other things through a database in which family members are recorded.
- 03Spreading news of events that concern members of the family, including developments in their places of residence.
Knowing where you come from
Chinese culture and Dutch society alike.
- 04Promoting family members’ awareness of their origins.
- 05Introducing the family, and the younger generation in particular, to Chinese culture.
- 06Introducing family members to Dutch society and its culture.
Looking after one another
Wellbeing, study and help where it’s needed.
- 07Carrying out welfare work for the benefit of members belonging to the Man family.
- 08Providing study allowances to promising family members in education.
- 09Promoting professional help and services for family members who need them.
A place to come together
The clubhouse on the Binnen Bantammerstraat.
- 10Providing recreational facilities, particularly for the elderly.
- 11Creating a meeting centre for the Man family.
The association further aims to do everything connected with the foregoing, in the broadest sense of the word.
